On price: Apex list prices are slightly higher but their monthly promotions (50–90% off) make them the cheapest futures firm by a wide margin. Topstep uses subscription pricing that's flat.

On drawdown: Apex uses a trailing threshold that locks after your first payout. Topstep uses a trailing max loss that stops trailing at your starting balance plus profit target. Apex has no daily loss limit; Topstep enforces one.

On scaling: Apex lets you hold up to 20 PA accounts and copy-trade across them. Topstep limits you to one Express Funded Account per Combine.

On payouts: Both bi-weekly-ish. Both first $10–25k of profits kept 100% by trader, then 90/10. Median processing 1–2 days for both.

On education: Topstep clearly wins — coaches, curriculum, live rooms. Apex is largely self-serve.

Pick Apex if: you're scaling capital and want the cheapest per-dollar-of-buying-power. Pick Topstep if: you're new to futures, value structure, and want proper support.
